Job Title: Cath Lab Technologist
Job Summary:
A Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting medical professionals in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. They operate specialized equipment to visualize and monitor the heart and blood vessels during procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiology studies.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare catheterization lab for procedures by setting up diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
2. Assist physicians during procedures by operating imaging devices and monitoring patients' vital signs.
3. Ensure patient safety by following proper protocols and maintaining a sterile environment.
4. Perform quality control checks on equipment and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
5. Document procedure details and patient information accurately in medical records.
6. Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care instructions.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology or related field.
- Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT).
- Previous experience working in a cardiac cath lab setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
