Job Title: CT Technologist
Job Summary:
The CT Technologist is responsible for operating computed tomography (CT) equipment to obtain images for diagnosis and treatment purposes. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and high-quality images while maintaining patient comfort and safety. The CT Technologist plays a vital role in the healthcare field by assisting in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment planning of various medical conditions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform CT scans using specialized equipment and techniques.
2. Prepare patients for CT procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
3. Position patients correctly and operate CT machines to obtain high-quality images.
4. Ensure proper radiation safety measures are followed for both patients and staff.
5. Review patient medical history and assess contraindications before performing CT scans.
6. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to determine appropriate imaging protocols.
7. Monitor and document patient vital signs throughout procedures.
8. Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical systems.
9. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report technical issues to appropriate personnel.
10. Provide patient education about CT procedures and address any concerns or questions.
11. Assist in the administration of contrast media when necessary under the direction of a physician.
12. Adhere to healthcare facility protocols, policies, and procedures.
13. Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure optimal image quality.
14. Stay updated with advancements in CT technology and participate in relevant professional development activities.
15. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
2. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
3. State licensure/certification as required.
4. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CT Technologist.
5. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
6. Proficient in operating CT scanners and related equipment.
7. Excellent understanding of radiation safety guidelines and protocols.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
9. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
10. Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records.
11. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
12. Knowledge of patient safety and infection control protocols.
13. Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
14. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
15. Willingness to adapt to changing technology and continuously improve skills.
