Job title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Job Summary:
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radioactive drugs for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. They operate imaging equipment to create images of internal organs and tissues for use in diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients
2. Operate imaging equipment such as gamma cameras and PET scanners
3. Position patients for imaging procedures
4. Monitor patients during imaging procedures
5. Maintain patient records and equipment
6. Follow safety protocols to protect patients and staff from radiation exposure
7. Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results
8. Educate patients about imaging procedures and answer any questions they may have
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's or bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology
2. Certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
3. State licensure as a nuclear medicine technologist
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
7. Knowledge of radiation safety protocols
8. Experience with imaging equipment and software
9. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
