Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Job Summary:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for operating imaging equipment to create images of a patient's body for diagnostic purposes. You will prepare and administer radioactive drugs, monitor patients during procedures, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate imaging results.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients for imaging purposes.
2. Operate imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras and PET scanners, to create diagnostic images.
3. Monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
4. Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results.
5. Maintain accurate records of patient imaging procedures and radioactive drug administration.
6. Ensure the proper disposal of radioactive materials and adhere to safety protocols.
7. Educate patients about imaging procedures and provide support during the process.
8. Stay updated on new technologies and advancements in nuclear medicine.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology.
2. Certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
3. State licensure as a nuclear medicine technologist.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
7. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to nuclear medicine.
8. Proficiency in operating imaging equipment and computer systems.
