Job Description

Job Title: Ophthalmology Assistant - Ophthalmic Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Ophthalmology Assistant - Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing quality eye care to patients under the supervision of an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Assist with patient screenings and pretests including taking patient history, visual acuity measurements, and eye pressure checks

- Perform various diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, OCT imaging, and refractometry

- Prepare patients for eye exams and treatments

- Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment

- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens use

- Assist with minor surgical procedures and injections

- Manage patient flow and scheduling

- Maintain accurate patient records

Qualifications and Skills:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification preferred

- Previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant or technician

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems

- Knowledge of medical terminology and eye anatomy
