Job title: Cath Lab Technologist
Job Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures in the catheterization lab. They operate highly technical imaging equipment to capture images of the heart and blood vessels, monitor patients' vital signs, and ensure the safety and well-being of patients throughout procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Set up and prepare equipment for cardiac procedures in the cath lab.
2. Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
3. Operate sophisticated imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy machines.
4. Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to any changes or emergencies.
5. Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
6. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
8. Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
9. Stay current with advancements in cardiac technology and techniques.
10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
2. Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
3. CPR certification.
4. Experience working in a cath lab environment.
5. Strong technical skills and ability to operate complex imaging equipment.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
8. Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
9. Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
10. Strong problem-solving skills.
