Job Description

Job Title: PET Technologist

Job Summary: As a PET technologist, you will be responsible for operating PET imaging equipment to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes. You will work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate image acquisition and interpretation. Additionally, you will be responsible for patient care, safety, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operating PET Imaging Equipment: Perform PET scans according to established protocols and procedures.
  2. Patient Preparation: Ensure proper patient preparation for imaging procedures, including explaining the process and answering any questions.
  3. Injection of Radiopharmaceuticals: Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients intravenously or orally as required for imaging procedures.
  4. Image Acquisition: Acquire high-quality PET images using specialized equipment and software.
  5. Quality Control: Perform routine quality control tests on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance and image quality.
  6. Radiation Safety: Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure risks to patients, staff, and the public.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs, documenting all relevant information related to imaging procedures.
  8. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate interpretation of imaging results.
  9. Patient Care: Provide compassionate care and support to patients undergoing imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  10. Continuing Education: Stay updated on advancements in PET imaging technology and procedures through continuing education and professional development activities.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in radiologic technology, nuclear medicine technology, or a related field.
  2. Certification: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) preferred.
  3. Licensure: State licensure as a radiologic technologist or nuclear medicine technologist.
  4. Experience: Prior experience working with PET imaging equipment and procedures preferred.
  5. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  6. Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating PET imaging equipment and related software.
  7. Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in performing imaging procedures and documenting results.
